Prison
Evangelism Ministry
Cistern Prison Ministry’s goal is to fulfill the command
in Hebrews 13:3 which urge us to “Remember those in Prison.”
We desire to provide hope for the families of prisoners. We accomplish
this by supplementing the current rehabilitation program by providing
long-term, in-depth discipleship for the inmates through distance
education. We believe God uses the written Word to transform lives.
Thousands of people are imprisoned in Kenya each year. We have
a total of 103 prisons overcrowded with around 50,000 inmates. Unfortunately
75% of people who are released every year from prison will return
into crime. People have realized that prison time may punish but
it does not rehabilitate.
There is hope for those who are put in prison if they will believe
in God and let His Word transform their lives. So many imprisoned
people are hungry for the truth of God’s Word and the love
for God’s people. With the help of volunteer instructors,
who helps the inmates study the Bible during their time in prison,
the number of released inmates who return back to the life of crime
will drop dramatically.
The first step to a success reentry into the society is the Christian
Education during the imprisonment time.
We disciple inmates in partnership with Crossroad Bible Institute
(CBI) [www.cbi.fm]. CBI is a center for Advanced studies based in
Michigan, USA. For more than 25 years, CBI have been reaching prisoners
with the Gospel of Jesus Christ worldwide. It is with such a wonderful
privileged and experience to partner with CBI, a ministry with the
same goal of bringing God’s agenda to the world through reaching
those in prisons.
Why Biblical Courses to the Inmates will be Important
More often imprisoned people have heavy burdens of loneliness, guilt,
bitterness, depression or confusion. We want inmates to know that
they are capable, appreciated and doing a good job by studying the
Word of God. We encourage them to know they are special and they
are brothers and sisters in Christ.
This is a personal devotion to encourage the student to have a
life and a pattern of prayer and reading the Bible.
We are confident that with your help and commitment, the Word
of God will reach our brothers and sisters in prison. The Word of
God will penetrate into their hearts and transform them. The rate
of crime will reduce and Kenya will be peaceful!

Program (Crossroad Bible Institute is a state licensed post-secondary

wherever they are, (including after release), giving them long-term,
in-depth discipleship throughout their journey. Thousands of church
members are eager to witness to people hungry for the Word of God
as volunteers for CBI.
How the Program works

- He/she receives an Enrollment Form from the affiliated ministry
or requests an Enrollment Form from CBI or his/her chaplain.
- He/she completes and returns the Enrollment Form to CBI.
- CBI mails Bible study lessons to the student, one at a time.
- The student completes and returns the lessons to CBI for correction.
- Trained volunteer Instructors correct and return the lessons
to the student, along with personal letters of discipleship.
- The student is awarded a certificate when a course is successfully
completed.
